Road, rail and air links across Greece have been paralyzed by an anti-privatisation strike.
National carrier Olympic Airlines, itself a privatisation target, cancelled more than 50 domestic and foreign flights. The private Aegean Airlines also cancelled several domestic flights as civil aviation staff joined in the strike, which also affected postal, electricity and telephone services. Demonstrators, who gathered in the capital Athens in response to a call by Greece's main union, the General Confederation of Greek Workers, shouted slogans against privatisation.
