In European soccer action: Four German teams have advanced to the group stage of the UEFA Cup.
Wolfsburg earned a 1-1 draw against Rapid Bucharest to go through 2-1 on aggregate. Hamburg advanced by beating the Romanian side Unirea Urziceni 2-0, Stuttgart drew 2-2 at home against Chreno More Varna of Bulgaria but go though on a 4-2 aggregate score. Schalke are through 5-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw against Greek Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia.
