Its head, Werner Faymann, said he would seek to form a coalition with his junior partner up till now, the conservative People's Party. Media sources in Vienna have reported that there is resistance within the People's Party to continue ruling with the Social Democrats. The leader of the right-wing Alliance for the Future of Austria, Jörg Haider, has said he was ready to join a new government with another rightist group, the Freedom Party and the conservatives.
