The Tripolis government has rejected a statement from Sudan that abductors holding 11 European tourists and eight Egyptians were in Libya.
Officials say extensive, country-wide searches failed to find signs of the hostage-takers. The tourists, including five Germans, five Italians and a Romanian, were seized while they were on a desert safari through the far southwest of Egypt. Egyptian authorities say the assailants are demanding as much as six million euros in ransom.
