Latest Poland-US Talks Could See Missile-Shield Breakthrough ... at Alitalia have signed off on a proposed deal to rescue the Italian airline.
The leading union, CGIL, dropped its objections to the rescue plan following a meeting in Rome with representatives of the Italian investor group CAI. Unions representing the pilots and flight attendants were to hold a meeting with their members later in the day to discuss the details of the planned rescue. Their approval is needed for the proposal to go ahead. Last week, the unions rejected a proposed takeover by CAI, because it would have meant hundreds of job losses.
