Slovenia's centre-left opposition Social Democrats appear to have seized a one-seat victory in Sunday's election.
With nearly all votes counted the electoral commission said the SD won 30.46 percent followed closely by Prime Minister Janez Jansa's SDS on 29.29 percent. If neither of the two parties scores a clear victory from Sunday's vote, the final result will depend on the votes cast by Slovenian citizens abroad, which will be published on September 29. Initial exit polls had pointed to victory in Slovenia for the opposition, suggesting an end to four years of centre-right government. Combined with votes from two other left-leaning parties, opposition leader Borut Pahor is heading for a majority in the 90-seat parliament.
