"Madiba" Mandela turns 90 ... he had interfered with justice to push corruption charges against Zuma. The 66-year-old Mbeki succeeded Nelson Mandela as president in June 1999. He is the country's first democratically elected president to be forced out of office before the end of his term, which was due to expire in mid-2009.
