The French Nuclear Safety Authority says that a broken pipe at a nuclear fuel plant in south-east France had caused a radioactive leak but no damage to the environment.

EU delays decision on GM crops ... The news came a day after the government ordered safety tests at all the country's 19 nuclear power plants following another leak at a facility earlier this month. A spokesman for the authority down-played the danger from the leak saying that it was classified as a level one incident, the lowest of seven grades. Ecology Minister Jean-Louis Borloo said, however, he wanted to review security measures in the nuclear industry, and have tests carried out on the ground water near all reactors throughout the country and assess the state of waste storage sites.
