Belgian King Albert II has declined to accept the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Yves Leterme.
The king met for more than four hours with Leterme and other members of his five-party coalition after the prime minister offered his resignation. The Christian Democrat's government offered to resign after failing to win support for constitutional reforms aimed at granting greater autonomy to Belgium's Dutch- and French-speaking regions. The government has only been in office since March.
