Japan's lower house of parliament has approved a motion expressing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.
The motion passed by a vote of 336-10, with most of the opposition members having boycotted the session. This came a day after a non-binding no-confidence vote by the opposition-dominated upper house. Fukuda has been suffering from low approval ratings, but has clung to power due to his party's majority in the lower house, which picks the premier.
