A powerful explosion has destroyed the house of a Hamas commander in the northern Gaza Strip killing at least four people and injuring up to 30.
There are conflicting reports on what caused the blast that flattened the home of Ahmed Hamouda, a senior Hamas bomb-maker whose fate is unnkown. Some witnesses said explosives stored inside the building blew up. The militant Hamas claims an Israeli aircraft attacked the house. The Israeli army has denied any involvement. Hamas responded to the incident by launching a series of rocket and mortar attacks on southern Israel. No casualties were reported.
