"We don't have enough votes to deal with the problem ourselves," Paroubek said, referring to the recent unsuccessful no confidence vote that the CSSD initiated in the Chamber of Deputies. "The government is therefore fully responsible for the situation," he added. Paroubek criticised government representatives for allegedly saying the government should be maintained due to the 2009 Czech EU presidency. He said this was a deficient argument and pointed out that the government used the country's reputation as hostage. The CSSD said it repeatedly wanted to discuss the Czech EU presidency, but the government's reaction was always arrogant.
