In sports: Germany are opening their campaign at the European soccer championship with a game against Poland in Klagenfurt. Germany went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead on a goal from Lukas Podolski.
Earlier, Croatia beat the co-hosts of the tournament, Austria, by a score of 1-0 in a match played in Vienna. The only goal of the match came on a penalty from Croatian midfielder Luka Modric in the 4th minute. In tennis: Rafael Nadal has beaten Roger Federer in straight sets 6-,1 6-3, 6-0 to win his fourth consecutive French Open title.
