Burma's military junta has denied reports that it is evicting victims of Cyclone Nargis from relief camps.
State media reported that officials were instead working on a voluntary resettlement programme. There are also reports that security has been tightened up across the Irrawaddy Delta. This comes just days after Amnesty International released a report saying that the military regime was stepping up evictions from emergency shelters. The United Nations estimates that more than two million people in Burma need emergency aid, but that almost half of them have not yet received any foreign aid.
