Following a meeting with his Japanese, Chinese, Indian and South Korean counterparts, Bodman also warned oil producing countries that it would do them no good if the US took a major hit, because it remained a significant engine in the global economy. He was speaking a day after the price of oil posted its biggest one-day gain, climbing almost $11 to more than $138 per barrel in New York trading.
