On Wednesday the EU used its alert system ECURIE for the first time to notify all 27 EU member states. An all-clear stated by Germany's environment minister Sigmar Gabriel has been criticised by Greenpeace. Its spokesman Thomas Breuer told Deutsche Welle that the loss of reactor coolant was among one of the worst scenarios. Slovenia says it safely shut down the reactor manually. Krsko, co-owned by Slovenia and Croatia, is the only commercial reactor in former Yugoslavia.
