UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has launched a new campaign on World Malaria Day, calling on the world to ensure that all of Africa has access to basic malaria control measures by the end of 2010.
Each year, malaria kills more than one million people world-wide, mostly children younger than five in Africa. It's also made a comeback in India. In wealthier countries it was eradicated decades ago. Malaria prevention has focused in recent years on the mass distribution of bed nets.
